Digital mirror replacement systems

Dangerous situations occur every day on the roads – often caused by the driver’s restricted field of vision. Even with side and rear-view mirrors, cyclists, pedestrians and other road users often remain hidden in the blind spot, particularly when it comes to large vehicles such as lorries, buses or specialised vehicles.

Since July 2016, camera-monitor systems (CMS) have been permitted as a replacement for conventional mirrors. CMS offer several advantages:
They reduce aerodynamic drag, always provide a clear field of view without glare or light reflections, and enable additional functions, such as guide lines on the display.

Furthermore, conventional exterior mirrors are heavily dependent on external factors: rain, dirt, ice or glare can significantly impair or distort visibility. The potential consequences are serious and, in the worst case, life-threatening. An unobstructed view of the critical areas around the vehicle is therefore of crucial importance.

Field-of-view classes

In commercial vehicles, mandatory fields of view are divided into different classes. Our AXION mirror replacement systems enable the targeted monitoring of these three critical areas, making zones that were previously difficult for the driver to see now clearly visible.
Our digital mirror replacement systems cover the following field-of-view classes:
